Profile

About Me:
Born June 23, 1992 in Kealakekua, Hawaii on the Southwest side of the Big Island. My parents are Wayne and Leilani, and they are two hardworking parents. I have one brother (the eldest), and two older sisters. I have three nephews and three nieces. My grandmother is still alive and well and she took care of me when I was younger and continues to encourage me. Three of my grandparents passed before I was born.

My parents are not members of the Soka Gakkai International. I am the only practicing Buddhist in my family. I was introduced to the practice by my 6th grade teacher when I was 12 (2004), and I joined SGI when I was 13 (2005). I also received my Gohonzon that year. i have appeared in the World Tribune (September 21, 2007 edition) and delivered an experience before many youth at the Hawaii Pacific Youth Exchange on Oahu in 2007. I also serve as a YMD Group Chief.

I am a young Democrat and I write my own political blog called "Wryen Says." I was appointed as Youth Director of the Na Opio O Kona (The Youth of Kona group), and was able to recruit 11 of my friends to help reelect Governor Linda Lingle (R-Hawaii) in 2006. I was also the youngest member of the West Hawaii Lingle Campaign Team.

I pursue my education through the James Madison High School correspondence program. I have been doing this since 2007, after I left my local high school during my 9th grade year. Among the requirements is to write essays, and I have written about President Ikeda, and quoted from his works many times.

I enjoy writing and motivational speaking. I enjoy going to the beach (especially here in beautiful Hawaii), and cooking. I love all my friends and family. And, don't forget that I love to chant and introduce people to Buddhism.

This butsudan is very special for me. It was in July 2006 when I received it. Prior, I had a smaller butsudan and chanted to my omamori gohonzon. a member was giving away this Butsudan, and my benefit is that it came to me. I was able to receive my Okatagi Gohonzon shortly after.
