About Me:
THE ROAD TO ENLIGHTENMENT IS A LOT MORE FUN ON A BIKE!!!

Single, motorcycling Buddhist 54 year old woman, is finally on her road to authentic happiness!

Born and raised without religion, I traveled with fear of a punishing god through child- and young adulthood. At age 30, deeply personal spiritual experiences guided me into Catholicism, which became a firm foundation needed at that time of my life. After 15 years, at age 45, that transition ended, and I floated through the spiritual universe without a firm footing for a while.

Finally, Paramahansa Yogananda emerged as my spiritual teacher, and last year, the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin caught my heart. And here I am, curiously riding on the Daishonin's vessel towards the next shore.
Wow .... just joined a few minutes ago and am overwhelmed by this opportunity to do so. My friend and mentor, Henry Gonzalez, aka Enrico de mi Corazon, invited me to join, just as casually as he invited me to look at Buddhism last fall.

In August 2007, I visited him in Albuquerque, just for a few days, and returned a Buddhist. No word did he ever lose about advertising for the SGI or the Buddhism beneath it; he simply lived his daily life and allowed me to be present during his chanting. That's all. As I rode back to California on September 1, bike and I got into heavy thunderstorms going south from Winslow to Payson, AZ.
I started chanting ... nam myoho renge kyo ... for hours .... and the water-covered roads became calm and steady and centered and safe. It was as if there was only the bike, the chanting, and me.

I received the Gohonzon one month later.

Thanks, Enrico.

.. oh goodness, all those wonderful responses for my welcome .... thank you, Dan, Seleus, everyone ... how wonderful to be among others whose idiosyncrasies demonstrate your uniqueness!!! Thank you! I am looking ofrward to spending more time on the internet soon so I can explore the othere postings, some of which remind me of the times I have been able to spend in Japan. I remember those times vividly, Kobe, the subway rides and the Kabuki theatre in Tokyo, the shrines in Yokohama, the visit to Kamakura... I traveled there many years ago and found that Life (with the capital 'L') did again what It has done often before: providing the initiation experiences to events that blossomed later on. Seeds are planted and lay dry until the water brings forth growth when the time is right.
