DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ---- "'Singing a joyous song of life together, let us vibrantly chant invigorating daimoku.' "The daimoku of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo serves as the hope-filled driving force for all people to realise their deepest wish of making the most of each and every day and leading a worthwhile and victorious life while brimming with the joy of being alive.

SGI-UK London General Area
Spring Daimoku campaign

Monday 28th April - Sunday 4th May 2008

....In brief, this campaign is for all of the members across London....An opportunity for us to deepen our faith through this week`s effort, we will increase our unity and prepare ourselves if President Ikeda should visit Europe this year....If he comes to Europe, we will definitely be able to welcome him.

This week includes two special dates; the declaration of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo by Nichiren Daishonin on the 28th April 1253 and the anniversary of the inauguration of President Toda on 3rd May 1951, and the anniversary of the inauguration of President Ikeda on 3rd May 1960.

Daily encouragement was chosen from President Ikeda`s Lectures on `On Attaining Buddhahood' as guidance for each of the seven days of the campaign. The page references are from the Soka Gakkai Malaysia version of the text which has the bright green cover.

Monday 28th April
Anniversaty of the Invocation of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo in 1253
Daimoku of faith and daimoku of practice (p. 6-7)

Tuesday 29th April
Determination and vow (p. 23)

Wednesday 30th April
Chanting resonant daimoku (p. 29)

Thursday 1st May
Concrete determinations and confident daimoku (p. 45-6)

Friday 2nd May
Courage and confidence (p. 48)

Saturday 3rd May
Soka Gakkai Day - Inauguration of Josei Toda
as the 2nd President in 1951 and Daisaku Ikeda as the 3rd President in 1960
The Indispensable Mentor (p.71)

Sunday 4th May
Happiness of oneself and others (p. 78)

The suggestion for everyone would be to aim to chant for an hour and half each day of the campaign whether on our own, with a friend, in our district, one of the centres or other venues being arranged - the important thing here is that we see this week as an opportunity for all of us to deepen our faith and increase our influence on the city that we live in. This week could be a great turning point - let's determine that it is.

With thanks to the respective London General Area Leaders

Hello George, I just thought I stop by and see how you are. Here things are great, I am getting ready to play some Arabic drums tomorrow at our Earth Day Celebration.
I hope we will have a big turn-out, last here we had over 500 people who came and enjoyed the performances. Many shakubuku resulted from that event, we hope the same for this year. Our theme is "The Seed of Change Begins With Me"
Let me know about yourself, take good care of yourself.

best wishes to you too! I once went to taplow court for a keibi activity, this was one of my most memorable times as a buddhist. You have a wonderful centre, and such openhearted people!
