NPR misrepresents Buddhist view of suffering - please send them your comment

On National Public Radio's May 19 "Day to Day" program, there was an interview with a Buddhist monk originally from Myanmar. In reference to the recent cyclone, NPR asked the monk "What does Buddhism say about suffering?"

I really value NPR as an unbiased and intelligent news source. I was disturbed by the question, because the interviewer did not clarify that sect of Buddhism practiced in Myanmar (it is Theravada). The monk gave an answer to the question, one based on his teachings, but certainly not one taught by Nichiren Buddhism. I urge you to listen to the interview and send in your comment to NPR, based on your understanding of how SGI Nichiren Buddhism views suffering. This is an excellent opportunity to clarify the global mis-perception that all Buddhists view much of life passively.
